Does your sales team lack an arsenal of effective cold outreach email templates they can use to make first contact with quality leads?

Templates are sales enablement tools that save your sales team valuable time that they can use pursuing and following up prospects instead of writing emails from scratch.

And when crafted well, they can escalate response rates and lead to more meetings and closes.

Particularly in B2B industries, sales prospecting emails shouldn’t be longer than 150 words, as your prospects are busy people. And for maximum impact, there’s a tried-and-tested formula to follow:

  1. Subject line
  2. Break the ice
  3. Highlight a pain point problem
  4. Describe how the product solves the problem
  5. Ask and interest-building question
  6. Propose a “make-sense” next step.

Naturally, sales executives in the industry don’t like providing samples of their email templates for competitors to see, so here are a couple samples I’ve created to show you: one for my own business, and one for a fictitious 3D printer manufacturer.

Example 1: Prospecting email to a sales executive about case studies

Subject line option 1: Casey – How does your sales team handle “prove it conversations?

Subject line option 2: Casey – What’s a simple way you can reduce late-stage friction with prospects?

Hi Casey,

Congratulations on your promotion to VP of Sales!

If you’re like many sales leaders in advanced composites, you know how hard it is to prove credibility to skeptical prospects.

But did you know that case studies can bridge the credibility gap? They use your clients’ own words to show how your product solved their problem. In fact, a recent survey by the Content Marketing Institute revealed that 78% of B2B buyers rank them as the single most important content in the late stage of the buying decision.

Would finding out how case studies can boost your team’s closing rate interest you?

Example 2: Prospecting email to a technical executive about a new 3D printing system

Subject line option 1: Alex – Is your current 3D printer limiting anisotropy improvements?

Subject line option 2: Improve your XY/Z strength ratios with the right 3D printer

Hi Alex,

I won’t pretend we know each other, but congratulations on your promotion to Technical Director.

If you’re like many leaders in precision AM for aerospace, you’re customers are demanding shorter lead times and improved anisotropy.

So did you know a 3D printer designed specifically for aerospace applications can help? In an industry where consistency is king, our customers are using the AeroPrint 100 for near-net geometries with controlled fiber orientation, then apply finishing only where it’s actually needed. They report improving anisotropy by 9-11%, measured as the reduced XY/Z strength ratio under ASTM-D638 conditions, and reducing overall lead time by 14-22%.

Would finding out how you can get numbers like these interest you?
